Howdy Everyone!
This is Samson checking in for Straight from the Rescues’ Mouths. This week has been pretty quiet around here so I would like to take this time to tell you about my friend August. August is an 8 year old Thoroughbred mare that came to call Illinois Horse Rescue of Will County home in August 2016. She was rescued from an awful place. A place that if they fed her it was bad moldy hay that we all know could make her sick. Her legs and feet hurt so bad when she first came here because of the poor conditions she was forced to live in. Mud that at least went to her knees and rusted broken old pipe rails thrown haphazardly among the boulders in the barn she was expected to find a spot to sleep. IHRWC came to rescue her before she could give up on hope. They took great care of her and have never made her or any of us feel unwanted or a burden. She had several wounds on her legs and hips. I know that she was very costly rescue with the amount of feed she needed to eat to be brought up to a healthy weight plus all her medical bills and supplies added up. Today over 2 years later she is still waiting to find her forever home! I watch rescue animal come in and get adopted within weeks or months of arriving to their forever home. Poor August sit here waiting and waiting. In conversations I have had with her I know she wonder what’s wrong with her…. I tell her nothing! I know she is prone to abscesses and that she is green broke and needs training if you are wanting to ride her. She would love just a pasture home to keep another horse company. She is super sweet and LOVES being groomed! She’s quiet and gets along with other horses. She has no problem standing when our very nice farrier comes out. She doesn’t mind needles, so she will like your vet. She would love to show you how easy she will load into your trailer to go home with you. Adopt her today or help me by Sharing this post.
