Work Work Work

This is Samson checking in for Straight from the Rescues’ Mouths.

Our amazing donors blessed us with enough funds to replace all our fences to the electric braid rope fence. We had several hard-working volunteers and a group that came out to help us take down all the old fence and replace it with the electric. It took my human friends almost a week to get it all done but we are now enjoying running in the pastures without worrying about nails falling out of bad boards or any of my pals getting out.

We tried to cut hay one more time because of how much hay we need and the price that it already costs. We were able to get only 150 bales of hay and one hay field we couldn’t bale.

We have very sad news… My pals and I had to say goodbye to one of our favorite friend here. Cowboy coliced very bad and after round the clock care with 3 trips from the vet we had to say goodbye. I still can’t handle talking about it because he has been at the rescue for over 9 years helping with our outreach programs.

We brought in 3 more rescues. They came from a neglectful boarding barn. Cid needs about 200 pounds of weight put back on to be healthy. We will keep you updated on them and when they are ready for adoption.

Thank you for your help and check back next month to see what’s new with Straight from the Rescues’ Mouths. https://www.illinoishorserescue.org/
