Hey everyone! Your favorite fuzzy reporter, Samson, checking in with the June scoop from Straight from the Rescues’ Mouths. You know the drill—ears up, hooves steady, and let’s dig into the good stuff!

🌾 Buy a Bale Fundraiser Update! 🌾

This is the one you’ve all been asking about—how’s the hay stacking up?

Well, we didn’t hit our goal yet, and we also got turned down for a grant we applied for (they’re focusing on disaster zones—which we get, even if our hay barn feels like a crisis without your help).

But guess what? Our amazing, big-hearted supporters have already helped us raise enough for 2,607 bales! That’s only 1,393 more to hit our goal of 4,000! 🙌💚

The hay guys have already been dropping off and stacking bales, and you better believe I’m keeping a close eye on that operation. (Strictly for quality control... and maybe a little nibble.)

From all of us with fur, feathers, hooves, and horns—thank you. Your kindness means the world. There’s still time to donate, and we’ll share one final hay count update next Monday on our social media pages. Let’s end strong, together!

☀️ Summer’s Here—and It’s HOT! ☀️

Summer finally showed up—and brought the heat! These last two weeks have been brutal, but I’ve been smart: hiding out under my favorite shade tree with my bestie, Huckleberry. I’m the chill one in our duo, literally.

Unfortunately, the humans decided this was the perfect time to give me a bath. Yep. A cold-water, full-scrub, suds-and-all bath. And fine… it wasn’t the worst thing ever. But don’t go spreading that around. I’ve got a gritty, tough-donkey image to maintain. (At least I got to munch on some grass after—it was the only way to make peace with being clean.)

🐱 Cat Crisis Incoming! 🐱

And just when you thought we were done—nope! Because things never slow down at the rescue.

We got a call to help with over 25 cats expected to arrive next month. We don’t have an exact dates yet, but here’s the thing—we can’t take them all in unless we find homes for some first. 😢

Right now, we only have 4 cats on our working cat waitlist. That means we need YOU—yep, YOU reading this—to consider opening your barn, garage, or shop to a good little worker who just wants a safe place to call home (and maybe a few mice to chase). If you can’t adopt please SHARE!

We’re begging for hay and homes this month—and we’re not ashamed to say it. These animals deserve a chance. Please help us give it to them.

🎆 One Last Thing (I Promise!) – 4th of July Reminder 🎆

Okay, sorry—one more thing to add!I know you’ve heard it before, but maybe hearing it from me will hit differently.

The 4th of July is just days away. Please, please, PLEASE make sure all your fur babies and fur friends are locked up tight.

We do not enjoy watching or hearing the loud fire in the sky. Actually—it terrifies us.

Studies show that reports of missing animals go up 30% to 50% over 4th of July weekend. And heartbreakingly, only half ever make it back home. 😢

Please protect us. Keep us safe. Keep us home.

That's a wrap for this month, friends! Thank you for your hay, your love, your shares, and your support. We couldn’t do what we do without each and every one of you.

Have a safe and happy 4th of July weekend, and check back next month to see what’s new—Straight from the Rescues’ Mouths.

With heartfelt brays and clean-but-grumpy hooves,
